Ronald Koeman reckons a couple of weeks are not enough for him to assemble a squad he would like to assemble.
As per Koeman, if a certain name is on the target of a club which is not offering European Football and some other club comes in looking for that same name and it has European Football to offer as well, more often than not it will be able to beat the first club for the player.
And, Everton at the moment is obviously not providing any opportunity in Europe. So, buying players is difficult.
TIM CAHILL SET FOR FFA DEBUT
Tim Cahill is set to get his debut for Melbourne City on Wednesday night when they take on Brisbane.
The former Everton star joined the A-League after the contract with Shanghai Shenhua was terminated earlier this year. The Australia international has 91 caps to his name as a Socceroo star. Tim Cahill is no longer a player of Shanghai Shenhua
The 36 year old Tim Cahill terminated his contract with the Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua but according to his agent, Ante Alilovic, the veteran player is still going to continue performing in Asia as there are a number of Chinese clubs that are interested in signing him and deals are being launched for Cahill who somehow still manages to perform even at his elevated age.
"He will stay in China. I'm in Asia now and will be with him in two days to discuss potential deals and there are a few interested clubs," Alilovic said.
Steven Gerrard has spoken in glowing terms
Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has spoken in glowing terms about his former rival, Tim Cahill, who is currently playing with Shanghai Greenland Shenhua in the Chinese super league.
Cahill is best known for his time with Premier league outfit Everton. Back then, he came up on numerous times against Liverpool legend Gerrard, who is widely regarded as one of the complete midfielders in the last few decades. Cahill featured only for a short duration in that game in spite of being named the captain of the side in the absence of Mile Jedinak.
