Mathew Leckie has especially come under abuse from the supporters

However, one of the national team’s influential players – Tim Cahill – his addressed the supporters over this issue. He believes that Australia’s young attacking talent will come good and fans need to show them patience. Mathew Leckie has especially come under abuse from the supporters. The national team recently took on England in a friendly match at the new Wembley. This was a preparation for England ahead of the Euro 2016 challenge.
For Australia, however, this match had little significance other than to learn more about the squad. It 2-1 loss meant that the confidence from the recent World Cup qualifying games has completely gone away. It now remains to be seen if Australia can recover from this setback when they take on Greece in back-to-back games. Cahill is expected to start against Greece in the hope of recovering form. The former Everton midfielder is the record goalscorer for the national team. Many are left to wonder the state of the national team once Cahill retires from action. Cahill, though, feels that there are a number of promising youngsters coming into the national team and the future is looking bright.
"I think it's fantastic. I think people need to be patient, everything is pretty much a process. You also see the experience of Apo starting and playing against Greece, a competitive fixture.Everything really is about their own personal performances with their club, consistently scoring than coming into camp and making an impact in training and from that they'll get the rewards on the pitch. The rewards will come. If we were together more often than you'd probably see more goals but there's definitely a lot of goals in these youngsters," said Cahill.
