STAT ATTACK: LOOKING BACK AT CRAIG GOODWIN'S SPECTACULAR SEASON
In this statistical series, we'll be taking you back through the seasons of some of the most successful Socceroos over the last 12 months, beginning with Adelaide United star Craig Goodwin. In Goodwin’s stellar season at Adelaide, he netted 10 goals and grabbed eight assists as he helped his side to a fourth-place finish on the ladder.
AUSTRALIA EYEING FIFTH STRAIGHT W/CUP APPEARANCE
Australia have a fifth straight World Cup appearance in sight ahead of their Asian playoff tie with the United Arab Emirates (UAE)on Tuesday. The Asian playoff tie is also known as the fourth round in the Asian region ahead of the World Cup 2022 tournament.
RYAN BENCHED FOR RAYO VALLECANO DRAW
Australia national team shot stopper Mat Ryan was on the substitutes’ bench from start to finish as Rayo Vallecano and his Real Sociedad played out a 1-1 draw. The Australia international has been the second choice goalkeeper at Real Sociedad since the start of the season. The ex-Club Brugge and Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper is in his first season at Real Sociedad whom he joined last summer.
EX REDS STAR STURRIDGE SET TO QUIT PERTH GLORY AFTER 6 MONTHS
Daniel Sturridge is set to be on the lookout for a new club again this summer with Perth Glory confirming they are unlikely to renew his contract. The former England international has yet to start a match or score a goal for the Australian club, for whom he signed in October.
RYAN BENCHED FOR OSASUNA GAME
Australia goalkeeper Mat Ryan was left on the substitutes’ bench for the whole game as Real Sociedad returned to winning ways by beating Osasuna 1-0 at home in the Spanish La Liga. The Australia national team star is the second choice goalkeeper at Real Sociedad behind first choice Alex Remiro and he has spent the majority of the Spanish La Liga season on the bench as a result with Remiro a regular feature in the Real Sociedad goal. Australia shot stopper Ryan has played nine times for Real Sociedad in all competitions this season.
AUSTRALIA FACING BIG HURDLE FOR QATAR
Australia have a lot of work to do if they want to be one of the 32 teams at the World Cup 2022 edition in Qatar. The Australians began the third round of the qualifiers in the Asian region impressively with three straight wins in Group B, but results have been average at best since those three games thereby putting their place at the Qatar 2022 tournament in serious doubt.

Australia national team shot stopper Mat Ryan was left on the substitutes’ bench for the entire game as his Real Sociedad see off Celta Vigo at home to get back to winning ways in the Spanish La Liga and boost their hopes of qualifying for Champions League football at the end of this season.
VOLPATO TALKED UP FOR AUSTRALIA
Australia senior national team manager Graham Arnold needs to act fast by extending an invitation to Cristian Volpato after the young Australian midfielder made his debut for AS Roma at the weekend.
Volpato, 18, came on as a substitute for Frenchman Jordan Veretoutin added time of the Italian Serie A home clash with Inter Milan on Saturday. Inter Milan were able to seal a convincing 3-0 away win over Roma thanks to the first half goals from HakanCalhanoglu, EdinDzeko and Denzel Dumfries.
ROGIC DOUBTFUL FOR WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS
Australia senior national team could be without Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic for their upcoming Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers this month after he picked up a hamstring injury.
Rogic sustained the hamstring problem during the win over Hibernian last week. To this effect, Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has ruled him out for two to three weeks thus making him a doubt for the two qualifiers this month.
AUSTRALIA MAINTAIN GROUP B TOP SPOT
The Asian qualifiers for the World Cup 2022 tournament in Qatar is in the third round with ten teams battling for four automatic spots, while a fifth spot is only available for the inter-confederation playoffs.
