Tim Cahill had unveiled his opinion
Before the 2015 Asian Cup reached it’s end, the Australian attacker Tim Cahill had unveiled his opinion concerning his national side as the veteran player said that his team was prepared better than ever and it was indeed true as Australia was claimed as the winners of this year’s Asian Cup with an impressive that saw the team of Tim Cahill only conceding 3 goals.
2 of those goals were conceded in the group stages and the last one was conceded in the finals when the Australian national team faced off with South Korea and came out on top with a final scoreboard of 2-1.
Australia’s Tim Cahill said: "I feel the preparation we have used in the last 14 months to get to this stage has been amazing. It might not have looked that way before with the results we were getting but we have really learned a lot about each other as a staff and a team. It has to be the best Australian side I have been part of purely because of what has been behind us.’’
The Australian side also managed to reach the finals of the 2011 Asian Cup but lost against Japan but this time around they pushed through until the very end as they defeated South Korea in a match that had to be extended in injury time and James Troisi scored the decisive goal that edged the victory towards Australia as they claimed their first AFC Asian Cup title.
Tim Cahill is the all-time top scorer for the Australian side after having found the back of the on 39 occasions in the international stage for his country and even at his 35 years of age, he continues scoring more. The veteran forward has been one of the most influential players for his country of the past years and when he ever decides to hang up his boots, his absence in the Australian national side will be unmistakable but even when deciding to retire, Cahill wants to continue helping out his country as he has established a junior soccer academy where future Australian stars will have the chance to perform and get into the main team of the national side.
