Tim Cahill didnt have a good 2014 Year
2014 wasn’t as prolific for Tim Cahill at the club level as it was at the international level.
Playing for his national team Australia in Word Cup, the veteran attacking midfielder was on fire.
But, he couldn’t carry that form to the club football as he proved to be a disappointment for New York Red Bulls in the second half of the recently finished Major League Soccer season.
The 35-year old had shaken the net as many as 11 times last year in the Red Bulls’ shirt, but, his goals’ count stayed to 2 only this year.
However, despite this, the Red Bulls would probably be offering Cahill a new deal in the starting weeks of January and the player might accept the extension too.
The way Cahill spoke to the media yesterday, it’s clear he is not too keen to leave America at the moment.
When asked about his future, Cahill said, “There is still a year remaining for me here in New York and I am one of those players, who when join a club, tend to be there for long periods.”
“To be very frank with you, when I came back from Brazil, I had the offer to play in the English top division on loan, but, I turned it down and played in the MLS only till the season got over.”
“Even now, I have got a few options and I am thinking about those. I always try and analyze things properly before reaching a conclusion. Within four to five weeks, I would come up with the decision and I am sure people would like it.”
Cahill has so far played 62 matches for New York Red Bulls. He had been signed by the club in 2012.
