ROGIC DOUBTFUL FOR WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS
Australia senior national team could be without Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic for their upcoming Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers this month after he picked up a hamstring injury.
Rogic sustained the hamstring problem during the win over Hibernian last week. To this effect, Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has ruled him out for two to three weeks thus making him a doubt for the two qualifiers this month.
Australia have work to do in Group B as far as the third round of the Asian qualifiers for Qatar 2022 is concerned. The Socceroos are second on the group standings and three points adrift of leaders Saudi Arabia whom they face at home in the first of the two qualifying games billed for November. The top two teams from the group meet in the Australian capital of Sydney on November 11 and it would be the first match on home soil for Australia in over two years. Five days later, Australia will take on hosts China in the second of the two qualifiers this month.
Celtic star Rogic has been a regular in the Australia team for the qualifiers. He has started all the four games in Group B. Rogic missed the Celtic game against Livingston in the Scottish league over the weekend and he's expected to sit out both the UEFA Europa League clash with Ferencvaros from Hungary and the Scottish Premiership clash with Dundee this weekend.
Rogic has been a regular for Celtic under Postecoglou this season having rejected the chance to move to Qatar last year. The Celtic boss has been very careful with the amount of games given to Rogic due to his previous injury issues especially at the start of his career at Parkhead. Rogic has started 15 games for Celtic this season in addition to seven substitute appearances.
