Mooy heaps praise on compatriot Mathew Ryan
Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Aaron Mooy has heaped praise on Australian teammate Mathew Ryan ahead of the club’s Premier League clash at Liverpool. Ryan has had a couple of strong seasons with the Seagulls in the English top-flight and he has shared the dressing room with compatriot Mooy this term following the midfielder’s temporary move from Huddersfield Town.
Speaking to the media, Mooy was asked about the performances of Ryan in goal for the Seagulls and he happened to praise the shot-stopper by saying: “He’s been playing well for both Albion and Australia. I think he is always trying to get better and you can see his attitude is coming out on the pitch. I am very happy for him.”
Meanwhile, the Socceroos starhas experienced a mixed season with the Seagulls when he has been in and out of the lineup and when asked about his reduced gametime in the Premier League, he added:“I moved a little bit more central and got involved more, which was enjoyable. I’m happy to play anywhere.”
Brighton have succumbed to defeats in the past two league games and they now face a tough test against table-toppers Liverpool on the road. The Reds are genuine favourites to beat Brighton, who have been poor travellers in the Premier League but Potter will be hoping that his team can frustrate Jurgen Klopp’s side by showing some defensive resilience.
Brighton have already made news this season with the 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur but that was on their home patch where they have generally played with much more freedom. The Seagulls have lost each of the past four Premier League meetings versus Liverpool with just one goal scored. They have not beaten the Reds in any competition since the FA Cup fourth round in 1984.
