Match Preview Featuring Wellington Phoenix Vs. Newcastle Jets
Wellington Phoenix and Newcastle Jets lock horns in their respective 10th Matchweek of the season with both teams in dire need of a win. The match will mark a complete cycle of three different matches to be played in just the space of seven days and is expected to be a close battle between the two sides as it always often is.
In the previous meeting between these two clubs (on the 5th Matchweek), Newcastle Jets ran out 2-1 winners at home courtesy of a penalty goal from Dávila, while Roy O'Donovan and Valentino Yuel proved how much of importance they bring to the Newcastle team by scoring a goal apiece to complete the 2-1 scoreline. Both goals were the result of two brilliant counter-attacking football and we expect to see some more of that in this forthcoming tie.
“Jets goalkeeper Jack Duncan was a crucial part of his side's win after being forced to make several saves to keep Phoenix at bay in their last game. He will be needed once again by his teammates to put in the same kind of performance to help his team if they are going to come out of the fixture with any positive result.
“Phoenix lost their last game to Melbourne Victory by 2-0 despite Tomer Hemed and David Ball returning to the team after their injury and suspension respectively. However, they will have the chance to wipe away the memories of that defeat should they secure victory over Newcastle Jets.
