Cahill Refuses To Comment On Signing Plans
Tim Cahill has refused to make any statement on the speculations of him planning to join Sydney FC, an A-League club.
Cahill currently plays for the MLS club New York Red Bulls. He still has a year left in his contract there and the way he talked to the reporters yesterday, it seems he is willing to finish his contract in America.
When asked about the speculations of his transfer to Australia, Cahill said, “I have never cared about the rumours and I am not going to do that this time around either. At the moment, the most important thing for me is to focus on my game. I am returning tomorrow as we are up against Toronto this Friday and I need to do well in that game.”
Cahill, however, appeared to be pretty clear about his future in international football. He said that he was looking to make a few more appearances for his country before calling it a day.
The next big tournament that the Australian national team will participate in is the Asian Cup. It will take place in January next year and Cahill hopes that he remains remain fit enough to represent the Socceroos in that event.
In the words of the Australian legend, “I would try and maintain my fitness level in the next few months and hopefully, I would be playing for Australia in the Asian Cup.”
When asked about Australia’s World Cup campaign, Cahill said, “I was playing in a World Cup for the last time. So, the emotions were high, but, the way we battled against some of the top teams, I am proud of it.”
Although the Socceroos suffered three defeats in three matches in the FIFA World Cup 2014, they earned a lot of praise from all quarters for their fighting spirit.
