German Bundesliga giants and the league's current champions Bayern Munich have confirmed that they have signed Australia international star Marcel Sabitzer from League rivals RB Leipzig on transfer deadline day.
The summer transfer window closed on Tuesday and just as expected, the deadline day did not disappoint as it witnessed a whole lot of last-minute dramas and a couple of unexpected and unplanned transfers. One of the quick transfers of deadline day was the one that saw Bayern Munich snap up Sabitzer from Leipzig, making him the third arrival to the Allianz Arena from Leipzig in this summer transfer window alone.
Bayern Munich are already known for fishing out the best players in the German Bundesliga from their rivals and signing them, making them even more powerful and unstoppable, which explains why they have been winning the Bundesliga title n a row for some years now. This summer alone has seen them complete the acquisition of manager Julian Nagelsmann, France international defender Dayot Upamecano, and now Australian attacking midfielder Marcel Sabitzer all from Leipzig.
The three summer signings have made them even more difficult to beat by their fellow league rivals and it looks like they are solely focused on fighting for the UEFA Champions League title, with the league crown almost now secured already.
Sabitzer was Leipzig's captain last season and Upamecano was also their best central defender in the last campaign as well. Losing two of their best players, without of course forgetting that Upamecano's defensive partner last season, Ibrahima Konate, also left the club to join Liverpool, has raised questions about whether Leipzig really want to fight for titles but it looks like they are already used to it and perhaps they will try to adjust this season as well.
