Australian striker urges Aaron Mooy to stay put in the Premier League
Australian striker Bruce Djite believes Aaron Mooy is too good to return to the Championship with Huddersfield Town next season. The Socceroos midfielder has endured a mixed campaign due to his injury concerns but he has nonetheless impressed in the Premier League to catch the eye of several mid-table sides.
Speaking to Fox Sport, Djite highlighted that the Australian should consider a fresh challenge away from the Terriers, should they eventually drop to the Championship. He added that staying in the Premier League could be an option for the midfielder, who was previously in the ranks of Manchester City.
He said: “I think he’s too good to play in the Championship now. He’s been there, he’s done that, he had a fantastic season in the Championship playing for Huddersfield in previous seasons, so I think he makes a move. It’s time for him to start looking, if he hasn’t already. Does he stay in England? Can he get another Premier League gig? I think he’s good enough, but there are a lot of moving parts. He’s definitely too much of a talent to go back to the Championship.”
“Mooy was the standout performer for the Terriers in the attack front during the previous campaign“ as they managed to escape the drop in the penultimate game of the season. However, the Yorkshire outfit have failed to replicate a similar level of performance this term and their relegation appears more than certain with a staggering 16 points separating them from safety “with just seven games“ to play.
Huddersfield most recently faced West Ham United on the road where they succumbed to a 4-3 defeat. The bottom club were leading with a surprise 3-1 scoreline shortly after the hour mark, but the Hammers made a terrific comeback with Javier Hernandez bagging late brace. Huddersfield’s next match comes against Crystal Palace following the international break and the game may confirm their relegation from the top-flight.
