Tim Cahill Unavailable for the Melbourne City Game against Peninsula Power
Tim Cahill will be unavailable for Melbourne City’s title defence which begins with a game in the FFA Cup.
Local outfit Peninsula Power will be the opponent for Melbourne City win the game takes place at the Dolphin stadium located in Brisbane. This is the first match for Melbourne City the club ended the campaign with a positive outcome in the league season. Melbourne City manager Warren Joyce has a fully fit squad available for the game. This is the first competitive game for the club since they were only involved in friendly games up until now.
Warren Joyce is not too worried about the lack of Tim Cahill, who is one of the top stars in the Australian A-League. Even though it is still in pre-season, Joyce says that it is a little strange to be involved in such a key competitive match. Irrespective of the status of the game, Joyce says that the team will be looking to approach the fixture with the same kind of importance.
The club have not had the opportunity to go in depth into Peninsula Power, as the team did not play in the top division. Yet, reasonable research has gone into the match. Tim Cahill is focusing on the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Japan and Thailand.
“All games are competitive as far as I’m concerned.I know we’ve had two friendlies, but any game — whether it’s the grand final or a friendly — you approach them exactly the same. You want that consistency in training, games, you’re striving for perfection all the time. The fact that this is billed as the first competitive game is immaterial for me.He [Cahill] was still playing when the lot of the boys were on holidays. We gave him a holiday after he played the Chile game (at the Confederations Cup) and then we’ll build him up from there,” said Joyce.
