Roberto Martinez disclose his confrontation with Toffees Supporters
Roberto Martinez has clarified that his discussion with an anonymous person, who was supposed to be the Toffees’ supporter, the other day, was nothing of the sort of confrontation.
It was actually about getting to know about people’s opinion.
Martinez says the feeling of the normal supporters, who follow the team everywhere, must be put into perspective because they are the ones who make the club. So, that’s what he was looking to find out there by speaking to that particular person what his perspective is.
Martinez would struggle to find a single Everton supporter right now who would tell him that he should be kept on and should not be fired from his job. Everyone wants to see his back.
But, that’s not hurting the Spaniard as he knows defeats don’t please anyone, definitely not the supporters who carry such a lot of passion.
Martinez believes it’s that passion of the supporters which is turning them aggressive and making them ask for his dismissal and it is normal.
As per Martinez, Football coaching especially in such leagues, it always has a lot of scrutiny involved in it, sometimes in a little lesser degree, sometimes a little more, but, the scrutiny never falls away and so, the pressure is never off. As a manager, what one understands very quickly is that everyone is free to judge you and pass remarks about you; it’s something that you just have to take in and get on with. So, as a coach, the outside reactions stop bothering you after a certain stage.
The Toffees presently stand at no. fourteen and might slip to fifteen if tomorrow’s visit to Palace goes wrong as well and that would not help Martinez’s cause as far as his job is concerned.
