HIGHS AND LOWS
The season of NY Red Bulls experienced some highs and lows as they clinched the Supporters Shield but were later eliminated from the Play offs after losing 2-1 against Houston Dynamo in their home turf at the Red Bull Arena.
However the real shock of the match was Tim Cahill’s injury as he is not certain about playing with Australia in their next match against Costa Rica on November 19.
The former Everton midfielder will monitor the situation in the next few days before letting Postecoglou know if he'll be fit to join with the squad in Sydney.
"I cramped up in my thigh towards the end. I had someone step on me in the last game and tonight in the second half of extra time I just seized up when I jumped. Cahill told AAP.I felt a cramp just on my thigh underneath my hamstring. I couldn't straighten my leg so I was struggling to run. I couldn't believe it’’.
"I couldn't do anything. I have no football now for six weeks other than playing for the national team and hopefully I will be ok for that. I'll patch myself up and go again. But to be honest I wasn't banking on having such little football to play."
He joined the NY Red Bulls back in 2012 but is already a favorite in the squad. Displaying some of the most impressive performances of the MLS there is no doubt the Australia squad will be hit with a big blow if indeed he cannot play with his national team.
Scoring the quickest opening goal in MLS history against Houston Dynamo after just 7 seconds and another one of his most memorable moments with the club arrived when received a cross from Thierry Henry and he scored with a spring-heeled header.
With the 2014 World Cup shaping up to be a tough tournament, Australia will need the likes of Tim Cahill if they want to make it far.
